Founder's Story

I am not telling my story.

I am telling story of who born with uterus and ovaries,

And who born with menstrual blood.

I went through turmoil childhood since the age of seven,

Because of struggles to find the answers why my mother couldn’t do her regular activities as she had done in non-menstruating days.

I learned that my mother and her friends constantly blamed, dominated, no voice at all,

Because they have uterus and menstruate.

Menstrual discrimination profoundly shook, and led me suicidal attempt when I was at the age of nine.

I disappeared from home for five days,

When I had first menstruation,

Because I didn’t like to follow various forms of menstrual discriminations as my sisters had done.

I enlightened,

When nursing college imparted me that the menstrual blood is pure, and clean,

And means for existence of all of us.

I gradually, learned that menstrual discrimination is all around the globe,

No matter whether global north or south,

Only difference is name, forms and magnitude.

I learned that menstrual discrimination is beyond pad or tax or infrastructure,

And beyond the five days bleeding,

Because it’s construct and reinforce the unequal power and patriarchy.

I strongly believed that the dignified menstruation is center for equality,

It’s decolonized, transformative, holistic, an innovative life cycle based human right approach,

Urgent to endorse as cross cutting theme now no matter where and what you work.
